Brooke Veterans Memorial Park
A new design for the Brooke County Veterans Memorial Park created by a group of students from the Pittsburgh Art Institute was unveiled at the regular meeting of the group on January 21.

Mambers of the Brooke County Veterans Memorial Park board of directors agreed the design, which was submitted by Brittany Hoffman, Ann Kelly, Jake Henigman, Luke Yanko and Kat Martin, was their preferred choice after reviewing five proposals for the park at their December meeting.

The students' proposal calls for each military branch to be represented by two statues, a man and a woman, dressed in the appropriate uniforms, in a circle at the parks' center, their corresponding military seals at their feet and flying above them, the U.S. and West Virginia flags and a flag representing all veterans.

The design submitted by the group depicts a granite wall partially circling the statues, with an elevated walkway atop it leading to a fountain and a pond at the rear.
